Centrale Adriatica’s refrigerated warehouse for frozen products in Anzola, Emilia has always been managed in an IT way. The Company decides to replace the RF terminals, taking into account 3 aspects: desire not to adopt any middleframe, choice of RF terminals prepared for voice technology, and desire to build a voice module in the proprietary WMS.

The role of vo-CE
The development of the Voice module for the WMS is done with Lexterminals as far as radioterminals and vo-ce are concerned. Operators are equipped with LXE MX7CS low-temperature wearable handhelds with a monoaural covering headset with noise-canceling microphone. The terminals, due to their versatility, allow for mixing radio frequency and voice. The handhelds, equipped with a 55-key keypad and 1D imager reader, make a full backup in case of problems with the voice engine. Integrated with a Standard 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi radio module, they have an Intel X Scale processor that, coupled with Windows CE 5.0 Professional software, provides a standard and easy-to-use platform.
Last but not least
- reduction of inversion errors in picking phase by 50/60%
- slight increase in productivity
- reduced need for terminal repair (due to limited use of
scanner gun) - process review and optimization
- better radio coverage
